President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during his working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium had a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, on 1 December 2015 in Brussels.
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Commission.
"Tajikistan pays special attention to the development and expansion of multifaceted relations with the European Union and considers stable friendly relations with the EU, as one of the most important pillars of its foreign policy," - said at the beginning of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the following expansion of comprehensive and mutually beneficial relations in the socio-economic, cultural, humanitarian, political and security spheres.
The sides also called as an effective means to strengthen relations between the sides the activities of the mechanisms of the EU, including the need to expand the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), and Centra l Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP).
In addition, in the center of attention of the interlocutors have been the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of energy, construction of a number of power plants, transmission lines, including the CASA-1000, large-scale transport and energy projects aimed at the connection of the regional power and transport networks in Central Asia and South Asia.
The meeting also discussed the fight against terrorism, extremism, and jointly confronting today's global threats.
