The President of the Republic of Tajikistan signed a Decree today for the promotion of athletes and honoring the winners of international competitions in various types of sports.

According to the Commission's cash awards prizes of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the 21 best sportsmen of the country - winners of the international sporting events- were awarded by the Prize of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The total amount of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan allocated this year is 673 thousand 750 Somoni. The award for each competitor is from 6250 to 150,000 Somoni.

Laureate of the Prize of President of the Republic of Tajikistan are primarily those athletes, who have won at international competitions gold medals and prizes in athletics, boxing, judo, sambo, and taekwondo ITF.

The appreciation of the Head of State isforeseen for the development of sports and promotion of potential of Tajik athletes and once again shows that the development of physical culture and sports are under the spotlight of the President and the Government of Tajikistan.

It should be noted that during the years of independence, the Government of Tajikistan in order to enhance the effectiveness of the system of physical culture and sports has developed and adopted a number of regulations governing this area.

In particular, in order to promote the winners of international sports competitions a Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was signed on January 9, 2015, №328 «About the Award of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the winners and prize-winners of international sporting events" and the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan from August 1, 2015 " On implementation of the Decree” of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan from January 9, 2015, №328».The implementation of this Decree gave a serious impetus to the improvement of the conditions of athletes and attracting teenagers and young people to the sport.

Thanks to the wise policy of the Head of State, the Tajik athletes in the period of independence of Tajikistan have the opportunity to take part in the Olympic Games, as well as in hundreds of international sports.

Tajik athletes have won 2717 medals, including 783 gold, 759 silver and 1,175 bronze medalsonly for the last 5 years in the international arena, thus repeatedly waved the national flag of Tajikistan.

During 2015, Tajik athletes showed superior skill on the international arena and 629 times raised the flag of Tajikistan.
