Meeting with the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah

Today, in the Palace of Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah, who headed the government delegation of his country at the launching ceremony of implementation of the regional project for electricity supply CASA-1000.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the meeting thanked Abdullah Abdullah for active participation of Afghanistan in the CASA-1000 launching ceremony and confirmed the willingness and interest of the Tajik side in the joint participation in other major energy, road and transit projects.

The sides exchanged views on the process of consolidation of peace and stability in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the situation on the border between the two countries and emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between the relevant structures of the two countries in this direction.

It was pointed out with satisfaction that cooperation has been established between Tajikistan and Afghanistan at the highest level in the framework of international and regional organizations on issues related to regional security, combating terrorism, extremism, organized crime and drug trafficking. It was noted that in this cooperation areas the countries will further maintain their common positions.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of interstate cooperation in the spheres of science and education, including education and training of specialists in various fields for Afghanistan, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
