The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a tete-a-tete bilateral meeting with the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
A wide range of issues related to friendly and partnership relations, as well as multidimensional cooperation has been reviewed at the meeting.
Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction over economic and military cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan, as well as over mutually beneficial ties between the regions of both countries, and informed that currently “70 regions of Russia have developing cooperation with Tajikistan’s regions”.
Emomali Rahmon also stated that “between Tajikistan and Russia there is no serious unsolved issue, several burning issues that exist will be addressed with consideration of interests of both sides”.
Heads of both states instructed their officials to hold in the near future the next session of Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade and technical cooperation between the two countries for substantial discussion of urgent issues.
Much attention was paid to economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. It was highlighted that cooperation in areas of hydropower, exploration and extraction of oil, gas and other natural resources in Tajikistan will further enhance.
Strengthening and expansion of military and military-technical cooperation, particularly issues of prolongation of dislocation of 201st military base of Russian Federation in Tajikistan, material and technical support of military units of Tajikistan, including border troops, training of highly qualified military cadres were among the main subjects of talk.
A constructive talk was also held regarding the improvement of political, legal and social aspects of work and life of labor migrants of Tajikistan in Russia, further development of cooperation in education, science, technology and culture.
An exchange of views took place on current state of region and the world, political integration of Tajikistan and Russia on the international scene.
