Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Yuri Fedotov.
The issues of bilateral interaction of Tajikistan and UNODC in fight against the drug trafficking and other modern threats and challenges have been reviewed at the meeting.
The sides expressed satisfaction over the process of consistent development of cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and UNODC.
As the Head of State Emomali Rahmon stressed, “Tajikistan is fully committed to joint fight against the threat of drug trafficking and other types of organized crime and is interested in its further strengthening”. “In the cause of achieving these goals, we are ready to take all measures”, - added he.
President of Tajikistan highly evaluated the consistent efforts of UNODC in enhancing potential of regional countries, including Tajikistan, in combating drug trafficking.
It was noted that the fruitful activities of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, which has been established and is functioning with immediate assistance of the United Nations, represents the model of effectiveness of such efforts.
At the end of the meeting Tajik President Emomali Rahmon expressed hope that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime will further take efforts for expansion of opportunities of Tajikistan in the area of fight against drug trafficking.
