Meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Today in Rio-de-Janeiro of Brazil in the margins of Rio+20 Conference President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The issues of multidimensional cooperation of the country with the United Nations Organization and its numerous specialized agencies and institutions have been reviewed at the meeting.

At the beginning of meeting the Head of State Emomali Rahmon stressed that “the Tajik side is satisfied over its high-level cooperation with United Nations that we have celebrated its 20th anniversary recently”.

Tajik President highly evaluated the remarkable contribution of UN agencies and organizations in addressing a wide range of urgent socio-economic, political and security issues of Tajikistan from the first days of its independence.

The sides attached particular attention to the process of consistent implementation of Millennium Development Goals in Tajikistan.

Both parties also exchanged views on issues of rational use of water and energy resources, transport and communication, as well as some urgent ecological issues in Central Asia.
