Participation in gala event to mark the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon attended a gala event to mark the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event took place in the Kokhi Borbad on November 4.

In his delivered speech, President Emomali Rahmon congratulated the people of Tajikistan with this significant date and said that the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan reflects the reality of the country’s independence, freedom, state development and progress of the civilized Tajik nation.

He emphasized that the adoption of the constitution was one of the most important events in the contemporary history of Tajiks and the great achievement of the people of the country.

Unfortunately, the declaration of independence coincided with a very difficult political period.

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that only with the adoption of the constitution it has become possible to create favorable legal conditions for protecting independence, end civil conflict in society, restore activities of the paralyzed government bodies, provide national security and public order, return refugees, and strengthen the political, socioeconomic and cultural foundations of the state.

The constitution was adopted on November 6, 1994, after the popular referendum in which the vast majority (more than 87%) gave their approval for it.

“With the adoption of the Constitution a new historical stage has begun in development of Tajikistan’s statehood, during which we have made major changes in political, legal, socioeconomic and cultural spheres of the country” noted President Emomali Rahmon.

In a short period Tajikistan become a full-fledged member of international organizations and established diplomatic relations with 160 countries thanks to this Constitution.

Following his speech, President Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the constitution would continue to serve for the benefit of the Tajik society and facilitate toward maintaining peace for many years.
