Working trip to Danghara district

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited the Danghara district today.

He was familiarized with the course of agricultural work, harvesting, re-sowing, use of lands, creation of intensive export-oriented gardens, reuse of wasted agricultural land, and food production.

The trip began in the 200 hectare Somonjon Farm established in 2018.

President Rahmon instructed the Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali to provide 20 tonnes of melons to the Dushanbe boarding schools No. 1 and No. 2 for orphans and homeless children from today's harvest.

Taking into account the impact of the pandemic in national economy, President Rahmon gave guidance to Danghara residents about a more efficient use of household plots, recommending growing more and relying less of imported products.

Next, President Rahmon visited the Barno intensive garden that was created in the area of 11 ha, and which employs 60 people on a permanent basis and more than 200 people seasonally.

Here farmers utilize the space between fruit bearing trees by growing melons, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and legumes.

Today the garden boasts of 1706 plum trees, over 500 apple trees, 400 apricot trees, 420 peach trees, 350 cherry trees, and 460 grape vines.

This year, 36 tonnes of high-quality plums have been exported to Russia and 20 tonnes to the Muminobod district's agricultural processing enterprise. The farmers have managed to dry 20 tonnes of apricots.

President Rahmon also visited the 12 ha Fathiddin farm in the Zulol village of Ismat Sharif community, where farmers focus on watermelons, melons and other vegetables.

The Ismat Sharif community has 7,130 hectares of land, of which 220 hectares are gardens.

Danghara is one of the largest industrial and agrarian districts in the Khatlon Province. Its agricultural production volume as of begining of this month is 389 million somoni, which constitutes an increase by 27.4 million somoni compared to the same period last year.
