On September 15, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as part of his participation in the Summit of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
The heads of state discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
During the meeting, the intensity of the political dialogue in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the great results achieved over the past period in strengthening relations of friendship, good neighborliness and comprehensive strategic partnership were noted.
The Leader of the Nation highly appreciated the unprecedented development of cooperation between the two countries in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of security.
Along with this, the positive dynamics of growth in mutual trade was confirmed, which increased by 82 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. In this context, it was about the presence of a sufficiently large potential for its subsequent increase, including through the capabilities of the agricultural sector.
The interest of the parties in the further development of cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, industry, energy and new technologies, in the areas of the digital economy and the "green" economy was emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of specific investment projects in these areas.
In this context, it was noted that the Chinese side was involved in the implementation of the Rogun HPP construction project, the renewal of the production facilities of the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), as well as the implementation of the second stage of the Dushanbe-Kulma highway at the Kalai Khumb-Vanj-Rushan section as soon as possible, development of a project for the reconstruction of the Khorog-Kulma highway.
In this regard, the President of Tajikistan pointed to great prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the metallurgy, light and food industries, as well as in the formation of joint industrial parks.
The parties also exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, including in connection with the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping said that the Chinese side understands Tajikistan's concern about the situation in Afghanistan and related regional problems and is ready to continue close cooperation in the field of security and strengthening border security with this neighboring country.
The Chinese side also comprehensively emphasized its interest in expanding practical regional cooperation within the framework of the "Central Asia and the People's Republic of China" mechanism.
In conclusion, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, invited Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
As part of the meeting of the heads of state of Tajikistan and China, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, 3 new cooperation documents were signed:
Memorandum on strengthening investment cooperation in the field of "green" economy between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China;
Memorandum on strengthening investment cooperation in the field of digital economy between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China;
Additional Protocol on the implementation of the project for the construction of partially main sections of the second stage of the Dushanbe-Kulma highway.
