Participation at solemn meeting to mark Tajik Militia Day

Today, solemn gathering has been held in Kokhi Vahdat complex of the capital to mark Tajik Militia Day with the participation of the President of the country Emomali Rahmon.

President Emomali Rahmon at the outset of his speech reminded of ups and downs, as well as stern and hard days experienced by sovereign Tajikistan during the 21 years of its independent development, highly evaluated and commended the role of militia officers and all internal affairs bodies in this process, as well as felicitated all those who are related to these bodies on their professional holiday.

As it was stressed, “Tajik militia has always been in the forefront of fight against criminal elements which have always wished to destabilize peaceful life of the country’s residents, to violate human rights and freedoms, as well as to weaken statehood pillars”.

The Head of State Emomali Rahmon recalled about the casualties of internal affairs bodies of the country in the process of revival of constitutional order and stability of a young state of Tajikistan, which amounts to 2 thousand people, and highlighted that “the state, the government and Tajik people will never forget those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of protection of security, peace and stability in Tajik society”.

It was noted with satisfaction that during the 10 recent years the officers of the relevant bodies have detected, detained and neutralized 131 organized criminal groups. In this period more than 115 thousand crimes have been solved, among which 40 thousand were grave crimes. In addition, 17 from 47 terrorist and subversive acts have been solved by the internal affairs bodies.

The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also reminded of shortcomings of the sphere and law violations among the officers themselves, as well as pointed out that 53 crimes have been committed by internal affairs officers only during the current year, the majority of which make up the crimes of corruptional character.

Focusing on the issues of reforms in the internal affairs bodies, the Head of State accentuated that the reduplication of positions by different bodies and other serious shortcomings should be eliminated during the development and approval of restructuring of the mentioned bodies.
