Today, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha.
During the conversation, it was expressed satisfaction over the wide-ranging cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Bank, including the support for development of energy, agriculture, education, healthcare, social protection of population. As it was noted, over the recent years the World Bank has allocated $800 million for support of socio-economic progress of Tajikistan. Only for the last financial year, which continues from July 2012 till July 2013, the allocation of $130 million is foreseen.
The discussion of the course of technical and economic assessment of the project to construct Roghun hydropower and the results of consultative regional meeting in Almaty of Kazakhstan have been among the main subjects of the talk.
“It is important for us that the position of the World Bank and its experts on the project of construction of Roghun HPP remains objective, independent and transparent”, - stated the Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon.
It was expressed confidence that the feasibility study and assessment of socio-ecological impact of the Roghun HPP project will be conducted at the international level and standards.
A constructive talk has also been held on feasibility study of laying the regional power transmission line CASA-1000 and other subjects of mutual interest.
