This morning in Brussels the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs.
Emomali Rahmon highlighted that “the European Union is among the greatest assistance partners of Tajikistan and the European Commission plays a remarkable role in the path of support of stable development of our country”.
During the constructive talk an exchange of views was held on the ways to support Tajikistan in the implementation of projects for enhancement of energy, transport and communication infrastructure, agriculture, mining and food industry, as well as education, healthcare, social protection.
Andris Piebalgs stressed the willingness and interest of the European Commission in support of Tajikistan due to its strategic position and key role in Central Asia, as well as stated that he will take efforts for implementation of agreements reached during the numerous top-level meetings between Tajikistan and the European Union on these days.
