The issues of the development of relations and cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan have been continued during the official top-level negotiations with the participation of the enlarged delegations of both sides.
Head of state Emomali Rahmon stated that “the development of relations with Turkmenistan is among the priorities of the foreign policy of Tajikistan”.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in his turn called the relations of both countries as rapidly developing and expressed thanks to the management of Tajikistan for consistent support of international initiatives of Turkmenistan.
Constructive talk was held on the expansion of political, economic, trade, cultural and scientific-technical ties.
Much attention was paid to the enlargement of transport cooperation, including land and air transport. The issues of acceleration of construction of railway Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan were also among the main subjects of talks.
Following the talks 9 new cooperation documents have been signed:
Joint Communique of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow;
Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Turkmenistan on the construction of building of secondary school named after Makhtumkuli in farming economy “Ergash Sultonov” of Jilikul district of Khatlon region of Tajikistan;
Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Turkmenistan on the development of transport cooperation;
Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Turkmenistan on the tourism cooperation;
Programme of economic cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Turkmenistan for 2014-2016;
Programme of Cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Turkmenistan in the sphere of culture and arts for 2015-2016;
Programme of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2015;
Memorandum of cooperation between the National Legislation Center under the President of Tajikistan and Institute of state and law under the President of Turkmenistan;
Agreement on Cooperation between the National University of Tajikistan and State University of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli.
