Today, a meeting of the Government of Tajikistan was held chaired by President and Head of the Government of the country Emomali Rahmon on the results of socio-economic development of the republic in five months of 2014 and future tasks.

Initially First Deputy Prime Minister of the country, head of regular anti-crisis working group of the Government Davlatali Said, Minister of Finance Abdusalom Qurbonov, Chairman of Tax Committee under Government Nusratullo Davlatzoda, Head of Customs Service under Government Rustami Emomali, Director of Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions under Government Safarali Najmiddinov and heads of ministries and departments of other economic and productive sectors have presented their reports on the main subject of the meeting.

Head of state Emomali Rahmon, analyzing and considering the socio-economic development of the country in five months of the current year, stated in particular that “despite the complex economic situation in the world, the Government of Tajikistan has managed to establish its activities within the framework of development strategies, programmes, and adopted plans, and to ensure the positive trend of economic development and fulfillment of main macroeconomic indicators and social obligations”.

As it was stressed, “the economic volume of the country up to 2020, namely in next seven years should be increased by two times, gross domestic product per capita should increase for not less than one and half times. At the same time, the gradual improvement of wellbeing of the population and during this period reduction of up to 20 % of poverty level have been announced among the main goals of economic policy of the Government of Tajikistan”.
