Questions to strengthen and expand friendly relations and fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan were first discussed at a meeting in the format "one on one", and then - in the extended format.
President Emomali Rahmon said during the meeting that "the expansion of multilateral cooperation and the strengthening of mutual cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is considered one of the main directions of foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, and we consider important trade and economic opportunities in Pakistan, its geo-strategic position, authority in South Asia and Islamic world".
It was emphasized that the contractual and legal framework for cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan consists of more than 40 interstate bilateral acts in various fields.
Interest was expressed in the speedy signing of a trilateral trade and transit agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The sides agreed to hold in October in Dushanbe exhibition of industrial goods of Pakistan and in Islamabad next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
