Today, the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy sent a message of greetings to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, which reads, in particular:
“Dear Mr. President,
It is my great honour and pleasure to convey to you my most sincere congratulations on the 20th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and Tajikistan.
The establishment of diplomatic relations marked the beginning of a new stage of relationships between our countries. France was among the first states to recognize Tajikistan’s independence, and this promoted further deepening interaction between our countries, favored the establishment of multidimensional ties in political, economic, cultural and scientific spheres.
France and Tajikistan lived side-by-side through two decades, which marked practically a whole generation. They could better learn each other, co-operate more closely in bilateral format, as well as in the framework of international organizations, for the benefit of the two nations.
France attaches a particular importance to the cooperation with Tajikistan and is always thankful to you for the hospitality rendered to its air force unit in the International Dushanbe Airport, from which it realizes its activity on stabilization of situation in Afghanistan, as well as the maintenance of peace and security.Wishing happiness and prosperity to the friendly people of Tajikistan, I ask you, Mr. President, to accept the assurances of my highest consideration and amicable gratitude.”
