Meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko

During the meeting the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko discussed the development of friendly relations and expansion of multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the talk said that: "We sincerely treat fraternal Belarusian people and respect the traditional friendship of the two peoples."

Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the content of bilateral relations of Tajikistan and Belarus, and he also stressed that relations between the two countries have long assumed the character of a strategic partnership. They expressed confidence that joint efforts will be able to bring mutually beneficial cooperation to a higher level.

Alexander Lukashenko praised the work and sincere hospitality of the leadership and people of Tajikistan and called the Tajik farmers' getting two or more crops a great achievement.

President of Belarus also pointing to the security of Tajikistan, said: "You always courageously and boldly lead the fight for the preservation and strengthening of peace, stability, so that the people of the country live peacefully and work creatively. We, in turn, are ready to provide all possible assistance at any time. "

In order to prevent further decline in the volume of bilateral trade observed in the past two years, it was stressed the need for further intensification of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

There was highlighted a need to intensify cooperation in the areas of agro-industry, mechanical engineering, transport, energy, light and food industries, etc.

The parties stressed the need for effective implementation of the Interstate program of cooperation for the period up to 2020, the establishment of direct ties between regions of the two countries, the establishment of joint industrial and technological parks in Tajikistan.

The sides also had a constructive discussion on the current situation in Afghanistan, the Middle East and other hot spots of the world, as well as on international cooperation between Tajikistan and Belarus.
